Madigan Army Medical Center is looking for a Central Services Technician II to work at Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), WA.
This is a 1.0 FTE, shift bid position (conducted annually) based on seniority.
The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician is responsible for all task-based Central Services activities. Works with and under the guidance of the Lead Sterile Processing Technician, Sterile Processing Clinical Coordinator, and Sterile Processing Management to prioritize tasks in order to support clinical operations effectively and efficiently. Expected to fulfill varying weekend and holiday coverage.
In this position you will:
Decontaminate per manufacturer Instructions for Use
Assemble and deliver surgical and interventional procedure case carts
Receive and Distribute surgical instrumentation & sets
Use an electronic instrument tracking system (Censitrac)
Train and orient students and new staff
Be required to lift a minimum of 25 lbs multiple times a day
Possess extensive knowledge of steam and H2O2 sterilization
Possess critical thinking skills related to clinical best practice
Possess a broad range of knowledge of surgical instruments throughout the process such as (but not limited to) dental, neuro, general, orthopedics, DaVinci robotics, ENT, OB/GYN, plastics, urology, and trauma items
Document vendor/loaner drop off & pick up, infection control, quality assurance testing, verification testing on washers/disinfectors, ultrasonics, cart washers, V-Pro Max, and steam sterilizers, to include biological testing and all other similar activities
Must be able to differentiate between single-use and reusable items.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or GED AND
Completion of formal Central Services Technician course AND/OR
Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Services Tech) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through the IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) AND/OR
Minimum one (1) year experience with Surgical Instrumentation in hospital Sterile Processing/Central Services environment

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
